Estradiol contraceptives is prescribed for symptomatic treatment of the usual symptoms associated with menopause (hot flashes, vaginal dryness, etc.), prevention of reinold fractures associated with beriberi, reduction of the risk of heart attacks and strokes, and dysfunctional (excessive and painful) uterine bleeding. Isotretinoin (Accutane). Retin-A has been around for years, and has become milder and gentler while still maintaining its effectiveness. Estrogens, when taken alone or in combination with a progestin, have been authenticated to reduce the risk for hip fracture due contraceptives to osteoporosis by 25%.
